Sardines in Sardegna

It is time to roll down the hill, say good bye to our friends up in the mountain, down in Massat and St. Girons

In good timing for European Mobility Week we packed our bikes and cycled to Foix, to play one of the few shows this year, in a beautiful new bicycle workshop called Facile https://www.facebook.com/facilevelo/ Here Alex refurbishes old bikes into stylish touring machines, city bikes.... The workshop is also home to the association Maison des Mobilites Foix, who invited us to play for the start of their mobility week activities. https://www.facebook.com/MaisondesMobFoix

The show was fun, but playing to a socially distanced, masked audience just isn't the same. Real sweaty, germy, spitting communal theater is desperately needed.

We'll bounce back next year with an all licking all prancing giant outdoor spectacular!

For now we're of on a winter break, finding sardines in Sardegna and Cecile in Sicily.

Our camera got nicked somewhere in the south of France so we fast forward to the beautiful beaches of Sardegna.

We had a dip in the sea, avoiding the sea urchins....

... drank water from the dragons mouth, stayed well away from the cycle paths....

... saw some Nuraghi and found wild, rocky, cliff camping with a tragic lovers tale attached..

Cycling in Sardinia is very beautiful. The roads are quiet,  this time of year anyway. Lots of german and swiss cars on the road, however all drivers,  including the Italians behaving very well. Smashing scenery, clear, sparkling blue sea, paradisic beaches.  Just watch out for the potholes and the wind blowing at gale force.

A day will come when giants walk the earth once again.

Au revoir l’ocean

Nous allons par la!

Which way south?

Happy to be dancing in the long awaited rain, together with our friends Quimper en Roue Libre in the market square.... That way south!

Return to Pays Bigouden to visit Atelier C.R.A.D.E. still going strong...

Wahahey! Look it's them again, Rocinante and El Rucio saying: That way south! Pronto! Pronto!

The little man riding the frog is coming with us and the fox is howling - Soooouwth!

Hahaha! We're at the 'nearly opening' of the new bicycle repair workshop at Lorient.... Syklett...

Canapes and cider for the moment, soon to be filled with bicycles....

Also in Lorient we found the place of our dreams... it's just like being at home.... it's our kind of place
it's like a french scrapstore! With red plastic bottles destined for Berlin in a scrap swap shop ting.

Yey! Critters in the daytime, spontaneous pedal power cinema in the moon light....

A little ferry crossing over to Port Louis where Charles a.k.a Rust in Peace has a lovely little bicycle repair workshop going in the market every Saturday.

Ooooh and then another boat to save ourselves some 100 or so km around the Golf of Morbihan.
Luckily we's the only passengers. Anyone else would have to climb over our bikes to get on board...

Aaah, a pair of wheels. One rusting and one wooden... Which one's which?

Whilst cycling across Brittany, conversations with old friends have been bringing up the topic of printing and cycling again and again....cycling, the letter press, mechanical processes, d.i.y
So we end this blog with a little homage to the bicycle by Dennis Gould...

Dennis Gould is an anarcho-cyclist-herbal poet and letterpress printer in Stroud.

Big orange bikes, .... I ain't no monkey but I know what I like...

At last, after a week of cycling through floods a sunny day! Just in time for la fete du velo in Tours.

Buckets of washing, buckets of bikes, got all them bikes coming out on the streets...we been in Tours..
and friends will appear...we like the way you ride them bikes...and the way you welcome us here.

We paid a visit to La cyclinique du Docteur Vitus to have our brains washed after all that rain... courtesy of our wonderful friends at Roulement à Bill | Atelier cyclo-militant d'auto-réparation

And then more buckets of rain... and here some  Buckets of Rain - Neko Case for you...
It was wet and green at the village Troglobal, a little bit like an Aztec jungle  https://troglobal.wordpress.com/
Damp and smoky caves struck us down with cave fever....

And then, struggling up a soggy, sandy cycle path our way is blocked. It were the havoc caused by the previous nights storms... buckets of rain... buckets of tears...I got all those trees coming out of my ears...

Not a very friendly cycle path this one... ominous signs of little smiling cars going 'hihihi your dead! You'll be on the front page tomorrow'...

Tour de France tour de France... we tested the new road... it's working fine... now let's get out of here!

Concours du velos delirant et inteligent a St.Lo.... avec la Asso V'Lo https://www.facebook.com/assovlo/

and then a route cyclable delirant.... they need a Maison du Velo and they got one now!

Really confusing sign posts... we must be nearing Sustrans territory...

The sea, the sea!
Just a little ferry crossing and then we'll be by the sea on the other side, if they let us in that is....
