Algarve Arte

We've been hanging out in the sunny Algarve for about a month now, waiting for the winter to pass.
The Laboratorio de Actividades Creativas in Lagos got us thinking about making some art and having a bit of bicycle fun. But plans have changed and we'll be cycling towards Spain soon.

The courtyard in the Centro de Ciencia Viva in Lagos would be great to do some wheely, wheely spinny things and rig up the human power fun machines.

This here piece of art by Carlos was part of the amazing nativity scene by neci, a school in Luz.

There is tiles everywhere you look here in Portugal and here is a fine example of poignant imagery of the revolution. It's in Sao Teotonio, we don't know who made it but it's great!

And here some pictures from the LAC Open Day

This one is by Jorge - Vive la Velorution!
We love bicycles!

We made friends with the wonderfull Joao and his bonecas.
He did a very funny portuguese punch and judy show with these cool puppets.
Sylvie can't stop syaing eTouro eTouro eTouro ever since...
e touro e touro!
It's not easy saying forcadores, but here they are, the guys who hold down the bull by its horns.

And here is Kevin being brave, tickling some giants.
The after-the-sneeze photo is too messy to show. We're still washing bits off of Kevin a week later.

Thank you LAC for a fun two weeks!

Next stop Barao Sao Joao and then Tavira for Valentines!

LAC in Lagos

We're back! We're alive! We have survived two month of wwoofing and howling. It's not been easy, mixed and all quite tangled up and dramatic.

Now we're on the move again. We're staying with LAC in Lagos for a couple of weeks and we're moving and shaking. We like to move it, move it, shake, rattle and roll it!

Coming up soon is a Kamishibai performance at the Open Day of the Laboratorio de Actividades Creativas in Lagos on Saturday, January the 18th 2014.
We will be on at 6pm.
The LAC studios are in the old Lagos prison, next to the Lagos police station/ GNR.
Keep your eyes peeled for further details and more entertainment to be had.

We did a screening of Bluescreen films on Saturday 11th January at the LAR Gallery, Lagos
BLUESCREEN@LAC
We were delighted to introduce the Cube Cinema Bristol to the local art crowd, by presenting a selection of the best of Bluescreen 2012..
Bluescreen have hosted Open Film Screenings of Independent Short Films at The Cube Cinema in Bristol, England since 2001.

And then the week after next week, on Thursday 23rd January we'll be presenting Fotografias do Meu Computador, an evening of random photos from our netbook.
We'll be calling it Vive la Velorution! and we'll be showing photos from our adventure.

Ciao, ate logo!

Setubal - Fish and Crime and Stonerafts

Once upon a time, a long long time ago we were happily cycling through Setubal. There we met the son a giant fisherman who invited us to stay with him. But before we got to meet the giant we stayed at this beautiful camp in Praia do Meco. We had a beautiful sunset.
But only a month later at this very beautiful beach a giant wave took seven young people out to sea and swallowed six of them up.
We finally took a picture of this artists work, he's called Dalaiama and has a blog http://dalaiama.blogspot.pt/.
We had been seeing his images a lot on our way through Spain and Portugal. Maybe it was a prelude to meeting the giants friend, who is an economist.

The view from the Setubal giants sons window.
Kaktus, Kakakakakaktus.
It's a gaint german cactus, left by the Sioux Indians, at least that's what we've been told...

There's lots of fish in Setubal, they like it a lot and they eat it a lot. We didn't see any crime even though we were told it's a hotbed of crime....
And the stoneraft is a play we went to see. Paulo took us to Palmela to watch a play in portuguese, by Teatro O Bando. We didn't understand much at all but it was fun anyway.

Then one day after eating lots of wonderful fish, chasing seagulls, visiting tidal watermills, a fun bikeride and generally enjoying ourselves thoroughly in Setubal we went to meet the family.
Here's Kevin with Uncle Che Rasqueira, Sylvia with Tante Fran Gippani.

Paulo with Oma Lettie and Jacinto, the economist with Pete Tisco.

We like Stewbull!
We had fun!
Thank you Paulo, son of a giant!
